- AKA: Tokay d’Alsace in Alsace, France (has nothing to do with Hungarian Tokay), Pinot Grigio in Italy, Rulander in Germany, Burgundy, where it may be called pinot beurot
- Found mostly in Alsace, France, Germany, NE Italy(Friuli), Newer area in Oregon
- Can attain a very high level of sweetness, but will start lose acidity when near to fully ripe
the best-known “white” variant-clone of Pinot Noir - Sometimes it is used to add richness and to lighten, when blended with Pinot Noir
- The Alsatians value it as a full-bodied wine that can stand up to food without introducing any flavors of its own
