- Aromas : peach, apricot
- High degree of alcohol and low in acidity
- French wines : Coteaux du Languedoc, Chateauneuf du Pape, Bandol,
- One of the oldest varietals
- Often used to make vermouth
- Used with others in white and rosé wines of Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence and Rhône Valley.
- Clairette is used for some “muscats” and for sparkling wines such as the famous Clairette de Die in the Drome
- Blended even in the red wine of Châteauneuf du Pape.
- Also grown in South Africa for sparkling wine, Australia and Sardinia.
